Group Description
"What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play!"
If you love jazz - trad, swing, bebop, soul, cool, Latin, bossa nova, etc. – or would like to learn more, you’ll enjoy this group, which has been running since 2013. And you certainly don’t need to be a jazz aficionado.
We take it in turns to give an informal presentation on any theme related to jazz and listen together to relevant tracks. The range is endless, e.g. the history of jazz, different artistes and composers, songs about the weather (stormy or otherwise!), the Great American Songbook, musicals, British jazz singers and many more. Every fourth meeting is a ‘DIY’ programme where everyone brings along a favourite track to be played.
