Barnet

About us

Barnet u3a offers a fun and affordable way for anyone who is no longer in full-time employment to continue life-long learning, develop new interests or skills and make friends.

We’re one of over 1,000 local u3a groups affiliated to the national u3a (formerly University of the Third Age), which aims to celebrate the capabilities and potential of older people and their value to society. Through the u3a nearly 400,000 people all over the UK enjoy a huge range of educational, social and creative interests. You don’t need any qualifications and there are no exams; all you need is enthusiasm!

Whatever your interest – or your curiosity to try something new – Barnet u3a is bound to have a group to suit you. Everything from Art Appreciation to Yoga, Bridge to Walking the London Loop, Italian Conversation to Wine Appreciation. Plus lots more. Take a look here.

And, if you’d like to start a new group for a particular interest, we’ll help you set it up easily.

Our groups meet regularly (e.g. each week, fortnight or month), either in members’ homes or at easily-accessible local venues in Barnet. Each group decides how they want to run themselves. The u3a ethos is all about active participation.

We hold monthly meetings with guest speakers, Study Days on particular topics and social events such as supper quizzes and barn dances. We also offer a wide range of day outings, longer trips in the UK and cruises to fascinating European destinations.

Barnet u3a is committed to being inclusive and aims to remove any barriers to our activities that members may face because of a disability.

We look forward to meeting you soon!
