Group Description
This is an established friendly and active group providing social interaction, interesting conversation, activities and friendships to people who live alone. New members find it is a stepping stone to hearing about the many activities on offer within the organisation and in the surrounding area and all are made welcome to come and see for themselves.
On the 1st Monday of the month the group meets at Carpe Diem in Whetstone at 10.30am. They are very welcoming considering how our numbers fluctuate. They have an extensive menu and everyone orders and pays individually for what they want. Everyone would order a tea or coffee.
On the 3rd Monday of the month we meet at 2pm in the summer months and at 1.30pm in the winter months at either Swan Lane in Whetstone or at Oakhill Park in East Barnet. Some of the group go for a wander and we all meet at the cafes in the parks where again we are made most welcome. Everyone again orders and pays for what they want.
Following the monthly meeting some of us go to Open Door on the St Albans Road for lunch. Numbers vary depending on the speaker / subject and other commitments.
At other times our coordinator arranges for the group for a Sunday lunch or an early evening supper. These are for eight people and have proven over the past two years to be popular.
A monthly email is sent to all the group with an update on events and things that may interest some of the group e.g. cinema, concert, etc
The group is well established and is friendly and welcoming to new members.
