New Groups - coming soon...

Chair Yoga 3

In Chair Yoga, yoga movements are adapted into mainly seated exercises with some performed standing, helping balance and coordination, but always close to chairs. This new group would meet from 3.30pm - 4.30pm on Tuesdays during term time (except for the first Tuesday of the month) sometime after Easter, at St John’s United Reformed Church, New Barnet. No experience is necessary. We would need a volunteer to lead this group; guidance can be given if needed. For more information, please email Groups Coordinator on Groups Coordinator.

Art

With so many artistic Bu3a people wishing to develop their talents, we want to set up  a new art group. Firstly, we need a leader to encourage and guide members with their skills and inspiration in drawing and painting, using watercolour, pastels, pen and ink and acrylics. The leader would not be a tutor as such but someone who is proactive, creative, versatile and willing to coordinate the group. Members would share their ideas and perhaps decide on their own projects (bringing their own art materials). We would meet fortnightly, probably on Wednesday mornings, at an established venue in East Barnet village. If enough people are interested, we will hold an initial meeting to firm up details. Please email Groups Coordinator on Groups Coordinator.

Fringe Theatre 4

Interest has been shown in developing another group to go to fringe theatre shows in London. We would meet up for an initial meeting to discuss the logistics and how we will select what to see. Maybe we could meet up for Saturday matinees once a month? We would need a leader/coordinator (one of our other group leaders has offered to help us get started). If you are interested, please email please contact Groups Coordinator on Groups Coordinator.

Jewellery Making 4

Would you like to learn the basics of making simple bead jewellery? We use beads, thread, wire, fabrics and even waste materials. You will need a few tools and the materials will be built up over time. We will mostly make necklaces, bracelets and earrings but also keyrings, bookmarks and anything that can be made with beads. You might have seen examples of what can be made at the Jewellery Sale at the Monthly Meeting last November. We have a volunteer to teach the new group but we would need someone to help with admin - plus some enthusiastic 'makers'. Please contact Groups Coordinator on Groups Coordinator.

Pilates 10 - Beginners

With the start of a new year, would you like to feel stronger, move better and find your balance? If so, this new pilates group could be a great way to achieve that. It would introduce you gently and effectively to the fundamentals of pilates in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment. We hope to get this class set up soon, to be held weekly on Mondays from 11am - 12 noon in a spacious hall in New Barnet. Your instructor will be Maria Vasiliou, a highly qualified, extremely attentive and caring instructor, who will guide you safely through every exercise. The focus will be on building a strong foundation, helping you boost joint mobility, strengthen core muscle groups, significantly improve stability and balance and, ultimately, get your body moving with confidence. We will do standing and mat-based exercises, so you will need to be able to get up and down from the floor and lie in various positions. For more information, please contact Groups Coordinator on Groups Coordinator.
